Web Design, Web Development, SEO (Search Engine Optimization) are technologies and as Technology Companies – Web Design Companies need to evolve with time and changes in not only technology but consumer and market trends.
In recent times we have begun to move away from HTML in favor of the WEB 2.0 XHTML tableless 100% CSS design platform. What set us apart from others is the use of Microsoft Technologies like ASP and ASP.NET as a backend engine to manage every website we develop.
This said, it’s amazing the number of websites being developed today with antiquate technologies. Some of this includes Adobe or Macromedia Flash, Java, Image Menu (buttons) structure and animated JavaScript navigation, Frames and iFrames. While all of this technologies have their niche place in a web designer’s arsenal, they should not be abused or employed as often as they are. One thing all of these technologies have in common is that they are all deployed by means of point and click software, requiring very little if any code writing skill set, unlike the case of custom script writing in VBScript, C# or any other Microsoft language platform. In many instances this is not the fault of the client but rather the web designer’s limited experience and or know how required to properly consult with a customer who is making an entry to the web.
Just like the success of a movie depends on how many people go to see it. The number of visitors to a website or how popular a website is determines its success. Website traffic can be achieved in two ways:
Paid advertising: PPC (Pay per Click), Printed Media, TV and Radio but all of this should be considered as supplemental and not the primary way to bring traffic to a website. The reason being is that once a campaign of this sort stop, so does the traffic or interest.
Organic Search Engine Results: This is free and often the best way to ensure long lasting website popularity and overall success. These require solid code writing on behalf of the web designer and the discipline to upheld search engine friendly standards. This often means limited or no Flash, JavaScript and or Java. Technologies that are often sought after by individuals or companies that have never had a web-presence.
So why not focus on designing a Search Engine Friendly Website?
We believe this is because many individuals don’t really understand what a website is!
Despite popular belief a website is a marketing channel and its success depends on how many users get to it while allowing this same user to use many different means and or browsers.
